Are You Willing to Change?

Whether it's a lifestyle change or establishing a new routine, we all know that change doesn't just occur on its own. In order to see changes, we have to make changes. Unfortunately, one important fact is often overlooked... We have to WANT to make changes to achieve lasting results. If you're going to make a change, you want it to last, don't you?

Keep in mind that, "I WANT to change" is very different from, "I SHOULD change." When you want to change, you are choosing to make a commitment. When you think you should change, you will feel like you are making a sacrifice.

Let's say two people (Person A and Person B) are starting an exercise routine, theoretically:

Person A is starting this routine because they want to take better care of themselves. Sticking to the exercise routine will feel fairly easy because they chose to start from a place of desire. They may even find enjoyment in exercising! Person A will successfully add exercise to their daily routine for the long-term.

Person B is starting this routine because they feel like they should start exercising. They will struggle to stay committed to the exercise routine because it will feel like they are making a sacrifice each time they exercise. Person B will dread every moment of exercising and fall off the routine in the first two weeks.

So how can you ensure that you are successful in making change like Person A?

Start by establishing your "why." If you want to make a change, ask yourself, "Why do I want to make this change?" Not just surface-level, dig deep. The answer to this question will be what drives you towards the change you wish to make. Remember, change starts with WANTING to make a change, and then the work begins.
